Christopher Fox writes about the music: "The seven movements of the piano piece "Seven Sisters" are also full of mystery. In Greek mythology the Seven Sisters were the daughters of Pleione and Atlas, the Titan who carried the world on his shoulders. The mythology tells us little about these women, however, except that they were so desirable that Zeus turned them into the group of celestial objects that we now know as the Pleiades constellation. In Jobina Tinnemans’ cycle of piano pieces, Seven Sisters, each of these women is given an individual identity, so that they become themselves rather than the objects of male desire. Each sister speaks, sometimes sings, perhaps even dances, through her own music. But there are also some shared sibling characteristics, a tendency to pause for thought, to break off in mid-sentence and, above all, a sense of gravity, of composure, that is sometimes quite human, at other times entirely unworldly."
